Address: G53W+3C2, Jl. Cok Agung Tresna, Sobangan, Mengwi, Badung Regency, Bali
This monument commemorates the efforts of Captain Tjokorda Agung Tresna (modern spelling: Cokorda Agung Tresna), who died while trying to retain Indonesia’s independence from the Netherlands Indies Civil Administration (NICA) in 1947.
After the battle of Margarana, which claimed a devastating amount of lives of Indonesian soldiers including Lt. Colonel I Gusti Ngurah Rai, a new captain had to be chosen as a new leader for the Badung headquarters for the independence council. Thus, Tjokorda Agung Tresno was chosen with acclamation, and the fighting spirit starts burning again.
Sadly, however, he was killed by a barrage of bullets shot by NICA soldiers, aged 21. A little bit later, in 1953, the people in Sobangan received a sign said by the gods to build this monument.
